KEY LARGO FISHING REPORT

Key Largo Fishing Report 7/10/13/Backcountry/Offshore Fishing

Key largo Fishing is well in to our summer pattern with winds out of the south and chance of rain usually later in the day. Mornings are the time to get out on the water before the afternoon clouds build up. With warmer water temps the backcountry is teaming with life. Creeks are out flowing from the rain and holding fish. Still some big sea trout around,Redfishing is good as well and some black drum prowling around the shallows.Snook have been a bit on and off, but still a very likely target most days. I think most snook are holding in the back bays at this time. Snapper fishing has held up in the creeks and on the banks with some decent size fish. Also more pompano then the norm. Warm water temps have added sharks and cudas to the mix along with the standard jacks and ladyfish. Lots of action in the backcountry and a good mix of fish as well. Water has been high so on the windy days we run my bigger boat with no disadvantage. this will be the trend threw the next few months with the addition of small tarpon on the next full moon.

Dolphin fishing has been hit or miss and the gulf stream is still  pretty far out although still  some nice fish close to the reef line with Dolphin up to 30 lbs. Also some school fish mostly on birds. Good action this week with line screaming skip jack and Blackfin tuna, Dolphin and a few summer sail fish as well. Billfish action has been best around the full moon. Every day is different so you got to go to know.
