/Reef Fishing 3/15/10

Still hitting the reef on most trips as this has been the most solid bet. Inside fishing the patch has improved with ballyhoo starting to show up in the chum line. Were there is ballyhoo the macks are there ,both Spanish and cero. Snapper bite inside is coming around as well mostly mangrove and some nice lanes ,muttons on the inside are close or short. jacks and sharks are also prowling the inside spots and some hogfish and porgies showing as well. Still a few lost bone fish out there off the flats and on the reef got 2 today. nailed a 17 lb black grouper on a live ballyhoo but back he went not open till April) water temps inside are about 68 best I've seen in a few weeks. Incoming water best but still hitting  on outgoing tide. lots of chum is key.

Out in the deeper water the bite is still good if the seas allow us to be there.Hogs, porgys, macks, tuna, some nice muttons.

yellows are around but not as good as last week. Current has been a bit lame with the gulf stream out a bit. But that is starting to move in as well. last report was 5 miles off the reef line (it was like 10 +)Mixed bag of grouper mostly reds and some big strawberrys(they got to go back) A good amount of mixed tuna Blackfin, skippy and Bonita in close screaming small flat line lures. Good size fish up to 12 or 15 lbs,big bar jacks on the move as well. Some big and medium cuda hanging on the reef line and a few kings. water temps on the edge are 69 to 70.A little east wind would be nice one of these days but the cooler air temps are kind of nice after this long hot summer.Dont worry it  will 90 here before you know it.

                 thanks guys
