KEY LARGO FISHING REPORT
Key Largo Reef Fishing/Backcountry Fishing 12/11/10
In the past 2 weeks cold fronts have passed threw the key largo area almost constant. On the reef fishing is still good on the inside and in addition to the norm( all snappers, yellowtails, macks, hogfish, jacks ect.)we are starting to see some nice black and gag grouper showing up. Just a few miles out from the inside spots some
really good size yellowtails, kingfish and big mutton snapper have moved in. Reef fishing is at a high point at this time.
Fishing in the backcountry off Key largo has slowed a bit with the colder water temps but still lots of trout, jacks and ladyfish to bend the rods. Found a bunch of small redfish willing to eat in a deep hole on one cold day but the snapper and snook bite was off bite was off due to cold water temps.Today has been the warmest in about a week or so with light winds and will help the fish as they get used to there winter pattern and regroup in the deeper spots. Still a good trip with lots of action but the first few cold fronts of the season do shock the bite
until they find there winter hang outs were they will concentrate for the next months ahead.
